Has anyone from Aussie gone to the US and bought a car to travel around? We’re going to the US next year and want to purchase a car. Is it easy to get insurance etc? What did you do with the car when you were finished with it?

Cheaper car rentals (rent a wreck etc) throw in the insurance with monthly rental. If you are going to be there only few months, that would be a better option than buying and selling a car

If you need it less than a month it is cheaper to rent. However, renting gets a lot more expensive if you cannot return the car to where you picked it up.
You can get into a used car easily at one of the nation;s many fine used car lots. Talk to youe Australian insurance company about US coverage.
Do note that if you buy a used car, you are responsible for all repairs while a rental company will take care of you if you rent.
And when you are done you can sell it to a dealer for maybe half what you paid.
