You can't possibly tell me that you can't see how they are the same can you? What is constant in this equation is that the insurance companies get richer. Guess who has been lobbying the politicians. I hear Democrats often say that they are out to protect the little guy. Well let me tell you who they are trying to make more wealthy. The companies who would benefit from this program are insurance companies. Take a guess out of who made Edwards so rich that he spends $450.00 on a haircut that I wouldn't have paid more then $15.00 for. The biggest problem with the healthcare system we have is the insurance companies. I sit in a doctors office for an hour and a half and the Doctor finally gets to see me and charges $300 bucks for the five minutes he talked to me and the insurance pays that bill with no questions asked. Or a person stays in a Hospital over night and gets charged $50.00 for a roll of Toilet paper that he/she didn't even use and the insurance company pays it with no questions asked. And how about the drug companies that advertise during the Super Bowl and pay 10 million dollars to advertise a drug I need a prescription for...What the hell is my doctor for? The Healthcare system has gotten a free ride for too long their prices are outrageous, their services are lacking, And everybody associated with the Healthcare system is overpaid from the Administrators all the way down to the Janitors. Now don't get me wrong I know alot of people in the healthcare field work hard and love what they do...but here is a bit of news for you..."SO DO I" And my pay raises aren't going up every year at two or three times the rate of inflation.

Car insurance is not mandatory
Financial reponsibility is mandatory.
All you have to do is post a bond and no insurance is necessary.

I'm not sure what suicide has to do with it however:
Health Care is overburdened by several factors:
Not necc. in this order.
Over use: people going to the ER with minor (not life threatening) injuries. Going to a clinic for a little cough. There are a lot of needless trips to the Doctor. That increases insurance claims, that leads to higher premiums. The less it costs the patient the more likely they are to make a needless visit.
Law suits: Anyone that has ever sat on a jury, found a Doctor guilty of something they do not understand and awarded an outrageous amount of $ will or has asked "Why do they charge so much for this!" That does not mean all suits are baseless, my guess is most are.
Technology: The cost of developing and maintaining equip and drugs is very very very high. Add to that the number of times that expense is incurred only because a Doctor is avoiding a suit.....higher premiums.
I got my shot in on cost now to answer your question with a group of questions.
What State requires Health Insurance? Why are you referring to suicide?
Is there a State left that does not require auto insurance? I'm not up on that topic
What specific legislation are you talking about?

If they can convince their constituents, it only goes to show who their followers are.
How did they possibly manage to equate these two things, which have absolutely nothing in common?
