How Can An American Buy Uk Motor Insurance?

I’m participating in the Mongol Rally this year (www.teamshadowboat.com) and we are trying to buy a car in the UK. We can’t seem to figure out how we can buy UK insurance without a UK address. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be most welcome! Thank you.

    Can you extend your US cover to international ?
    If I wanted to drive in the US I can upgrade by UK insurance.

    Ask the rally company organisers if they can recomend anyone. They might have some suggestions.
