We bought our car 5 years ago in Virginia when it was new and just finished paying off the loan. We paid $23,000. Our Auto insurance premium was based on that value. After 5 years, it is now valued at $10,000 but my insurance agent (Travelers) says the premium does not change just because of depreciation. Is this true? Continue reading..

Hi, My insurance co. has declared my car, which was involved in an accident, as total and have come up with a price which I don’t quite agree with. I could see some cars in local classifieds which are priced ~2K-2.5K above the quoted price by insurance co. My car insurance company has decided to write off my brandnew 2008 model car driven for less than 2000 KM. Black book is giving value for models till 2007 only. Can I expect 100% of new car value from them? WIll it be negotiable?
