My 20 year old daughter decided to buy a car for her boy friend. The car and insurance is in her name with my address. She is still listed on my car insurance policy. What should I do ? She has made a big mistake. Can I just have her cancell her policy and transfer the car to him and keep her on my policy. We do not want to be responsible for her boy friend in any way. I feel she has put me a risk using our address.

Here’s the deal. I had a motorcycle in 2006 and I received 2 tickets. One was a 15 mph over the posted limit and another was a wreckless driving for riding a wheelie. That gives me 11 points on my WV driving license. My current Insurance company (the same one I had my motorcycle insured through) evidentally has not ran an MVR because my premium for liability on my car has actually went down over the course of the past two years. Now, I will be purchasing another motorcycle in the next Continue reading..

My son’s girlfriend is 18 and she is purchasing a new car. She is financing part of it. The insurance for her is very expensive so I though maybe I could add her to my policy. I figure if the car was in my name it wouldn’t be a problem, but since it is going to be in her name and since she’s not actually related to me I may not be able to do it.

Although my old car died a few months ago, I have still been paying for a minimal/bare-bones, limited liability car insurance policy with Progressive Auto Insurance. This is because I do not want to show a lapse of insurance coverage. The policy is in my name.
Recently, my father obtained a new car and gave me his old car. He insured both vehicles in his own name (with Amica Auto Insurance), but has listed me as an “covered/insured driver” in his policy.
Now, I want to get rid Continue reading..

To add to the ever-growing pile of insurance questions… We all know insurers consider things such as driving records (claims, accidents, tickets, etc…), age, characteristics of the area in which the car is parked/garaged, type of car, credit history (I BELIEVE I have named all of the most salient measures). However, other information is also collected such as your education, income level and occupation. Seems to be quite a lot of excess data for an auto insurance company. So, Continue reading..

Someone told me they had to. I live with my devious grandmother. I am under 18 and need to get my car legal so i can go back and forth to college ect. I am however untrusting of my grandmother and do not want her to have any legal rights to the car itself. Does she have to be the co owner of my car in order for me to be put on her car insurance. I cannot afford it on my own. We live in Florida if that means anything. And she has geico for insurance.
