Where Can I Get Cheap Car Insurance When I’m An International Student Without Us Driving Record Before?
I am a 22 y.o. girl, international student in US. I’m planning to buy a car to go to college. I’m very interested in toyota celica 2000/2001.
I haven’t had US driving license before… so I will make it next month. However, I actually had 4 years driving experience in my country, but not able to get record from local police department, since they dont keep such files in my country.
I ask for quotes from several car insurance company. In average I receive quote at about US$ 300-400 per month. Do you think that it is too expensive? I think it’s very expensive.. What should I do about it?

since you have never had a US license and cannot prove out of country license, you are being rated as inexperienced, just like a newly licensed person from the US. your rates are going to be very high. its best to buy a car you can fully pay for and carry liability only if possible as full coverage would cost you even more.

Which country are you from? I find it very difficult to believe that any country would not keep track of your driving record. If not the police, then the agency that issued the license should be able to provide some sort of a letter stating that you haven’t had any accidents.
If you had insurance in your home country, a letter from them might help as well.
Otherwise, you can minimize the insurance cost by getting an older car.
