Will My Auto Insurance Be Affected?
Couple month ago, I was in an accident while driving my friend’s car. Police were called, and police report were filed. I didn’t have a car nor auto insurance, so I paid for all the repairs on both car, so insurance company wasn’t involved. If I decide to buy a car and get auto insurance now, will my rate be affected? better yet, should I even tell the insurance company about it? Thanks in advance!

The insurance company runs 2 reports on you one is MVR or driving record. If a ticket was issued for the accident the insurance company will see that. If it is something like a illegal lane change that is a violation that they will charge for. The other report is a CLUE report, this report tells another insurance company if any other company has ever paid a claim in your name. This also lets the insurance company know you were in a accident even if you were not issued a ticket or if the cops never showed up. In your case the Agent will ask if you had a accident on the date you got the ticket. you will say yes but nothing was paid out. if it did not meet w certain amount paid out then most companies will not charge. It sort of depend on your company at this point what they will charge for.

For auto insurance the quick way to get a good rate is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same limits, car model, zip code, etc so that all things are a good comparison.
What I most often recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and can give several quotes on auto insurance polices.

If you weren’t issued a ticket you should be fine.
