I Have Been Waiting Since Oct 24th For The Auto Place My Car Insurance Company Picked To Return My Car.?
It is now dec 31st. I keep getting the same answere about my car that they ordered parts that where on back stock. Then they got the part. Two weeks later when it was finally due they tell me the parts where wrong. Its been over two months with no end in sight. I cant even get a date still. My insurance company wont do anything for me and the auto body place as well. Is there some kind of time limit? I didnt have car rental insurance and they wont help me at all. Of course if I knew it would take a quarter of a ear to get my car fixed after an accident I would have. Please someone help me out. Its costing me a fortune.

I would turn both the insurance company and the body shop in to the BBB and the insurance commissioner and your Consumer protection office. They are playing games with you

if you are in the UK the best thing to do is go to the citizens advice bureau and explain your situation, 3 months is a long time, i’m sure they could have sourced the part from somewhere in that time, even if it was a pattern part and not OE.
you should expect a reasonable turnaround time, as an example even if the part had to come from japan it would not take that long.

Did they give you an estimate on how long it would take in the beginning?
If not, then there’s not much you can do. You’re unfortunately at the mercy of this company. However, it seems to me one way or another they aren’t very compliant and leaving you in the dark, which they can’t do. They have to at least give you a general time to expect it.
If they DID give you an estimate you can probably take legal action, including the rental costs and the like.
But I’m no lawyer, I would suggest you speak with one about it.

In most states, you have the right to choose the place that repairs your car, so you can have it taken to another body shop. Insurance companies like to push you into choosing their own shops, because they get better deals (even if the service is bad.)
I would take your estimate (or at least the claim adjusters report) to 2 or 3 other body shops, and see if they can help you out. I would bet that one would give you a good deal, just to steal a customer from a competitor.

First of all if you are using a shop that the insurance company recommended they should be doing more for you. IF the part is truly o back order, and this happens often especially with the car market right now, then the body shop is not really to blame either. I take it that you were at faulf for the loss or you would be filing with the other compnay and this would be a non-issue as they would still owe you for you the rental. Many car companies will pay for the rental car if it’s due to a back order issue. And also, wrong parts come in ALL the time to the body shops. Speak to the body shop manager in person. Have them pull the file and show you the paper trail. Sometimes the body shop will pick up the charges to be nice.
you’re not in a position to move the vehicle to another shop. If you do there are all kinds of fees that will occur. Possible storage charges. you still have to pay for the work that was done up till now. A tow would be paid by you. There is also no guarantee the next shop will not have the same problem that you are having.
I’m really surprised that you’re insurance company is not stepping up to do more. But call the body shop manager and have him/her assist. and try to be as nice as you can as i know this is really difficult. It will get you much further.
good luck
