Does Auto Insurance Cover The Damage Caused To The Car While Your Car Was Towed ?

My car was recently towed. I found scratch marks and an attempted breakin to my car. Have scratches and dents on both doors, which I believe are done by the towing company. So if I file a claim will my insurance company cover these damages ?
Thanks !

If the damage occurred while your vehicle was in the care of the tow company, they are liable for the damages. Have you spoken to them about it? Are they denying responsibility?
Your own comprehensive coverage would cover the cost, but you would still have your deductible to consider. It may not be worth the rate rise to have your company handle it unless it will be expensive to repair.
You could take the tow company to small claims court, but it may be difficult to prove they are at fault.
When you do speak to the tow company. Speak calmly and confidently. If they are refusing to compensate you, you could say, matter of factly, that you don’t want to be forced to take them to small claims court but were hoping that they would be reasonable. They may cave in then.
Usually, though, if you get belligerent, they will too. :-)

NO! Do Not put it on your ins. The tow truck carries ins.to cover that.

I have had the same thing happen to me my insurance would not cover it. I had to have a lawyer write a letter to the tow company. It was a hassle but finally I got the damage covered. I also found out the tow is liable for damage while towing but they will tell you they are not, they may even have a sign saying they are not, but they are.

IF you have collisison and comprehensive coverage, they may be covered. However, keep in mind that your deductible (which means that the first $ 500, $ 1,000 or however much your insurance deductible) will be paid out of YOUR pocket and that any claims filed with the insurance company typically result in increased premiums. Only you are in the position to tell if it is worth the extra premiums plus the deductible to have the damage repaired.
You should confront the owner of the towing firm and tell them that they are responsible for the damage and have their insurance cover it.
    Good luck!

You’re probably covered under your comprehensive coverage. However, think twice about making a relatively small claim. First, you’ll have to pay your deductible out of your own pocket and, second, your insurance rates will likely go up as a result of the claim. So, is it really worth making the claim? It might be better to just pay for it yourself.
