I Don’t Have Auto Insurance And I Hit A Car. What Do I Do Now?
Last week. I was at a stop sign when I accidently bumped the car in front of me which caused his paint to chip a little. We pulled to the side and he requested the police to be on sight. The police helped us exchange information. Two days later I was contacted by the driver asking me on how I wanted to resolve this and we agreed to finding someone to repair it. His quote was for $950 and I received one for $300 because it is only a little bit of paint with a very small dent (No more than 1.5 inches). He said my quote was not the job he wanted and we would have to go with his. I do not have that kind of money this month and he calls me every day harrasing me on why I am being so difficult. If I had the money I wold give it to him as I am not hiding. He has insurance and at this point I would rather deal with his insurance company since he is being very harsh when I am trying to work with him. Should I contact his insurance company or what will/should happen?

He has the right to take his vehicle where he wants to have it repaired, not where you want him to take it. When it’s your vehicle that is damaged you can take it where you want, but this is his vehicle. He doesn’t have to take it where you want him to and have a half-assed job done.
He can take you to small claims court and order you to pay. You will also get in trouble with the state for not having insurance. If you have a lien on your car you can expect trouble there, too. Most states require full coverage on financed vehicles. If he hears that you contacted insurance you are likely going to end up paying for more than the $950… but sure, contact them.

HA! You are getting exactly the a** beating you deserve for having no insurance. I hope he reams you for a few hundred dollars for a rental car, too, while his car is in the shop. And you have the audacity to come here whining and crying because he won’t accept the cheap estimate YOU got for him.
Insurance would have been so much cheaper than the beating you are (hopefully) gonna take for this mess you’ve caused.

Let him take you to Small Claims Court.
Take your written estimate for repairs to show the judge.
Just make sure the estimate is from a reputable shop.
Everyone else is right. Get insurance or don’t drive.
You were very lucky that you haven’t had a worse accident.

You should try to convince him to go with your quote, since you don’t have insurance you can risk yourself getting more in trouble, unless he does it with his insurance, and you pay his deductible which most of them are $500.

Suck it up and pay the $950. And park your car until you get insurance!! You got off cheap this time! What would you do if you had a bad accident? Driving without insurance is a good way to ruin yourself for life!

Try to deal it out of pocket, otherwise insurance rates will go up much more. You can check how quotes will change here – autoinsurance.bebto.com

What should happen is you should be expected to pay.

Run.

Get ready to get your butt sued off. What will happen next is the state will come in and take your license plate if not your driving privileges too until what ever amount they sue you for is paid off.
You will be force to get high dollar insurance(SR-22) and keep it for a certain period of time before you get good affordable insurance again.
From the looks of it the person you hit is going to take you to the cleaners and if it goes to court the above I told will happen to you.
Suck it up and pay him the 950.00 but be sure you get him to sign papers stating you are paid in full.

Why would YOU contact HIS insurance company? You got yourself into this mess by driving with no insurance. You need to either pay up or shut up. You are in no position to demand where his vehicle gets repaired. He wants his car repaired, and I would be no different if it was me you hit. If you don’t have the money to fix his car, then tell him to submit it to his own insurance company. Then prepare to be sued by his insurance company.
All this because you didn’t have insurance. I sure hope it was worth it.

Be sure to document everything. This could end up going to small claims court if he decides to sue you.
You’re liable for the repair, but I can’t see any reason why you should have to be forced to use his guy who costs three times as much. Try to get information on where he received his quote from and call that guy. This dude may be trying to scam you. If you had insurance to cover his repair cost, he wouldn’t be telling them where he wanted the repair done.

People like you are why my rates are so high! If you cannot afford insurance you cannot afford to drive. What if you injured or killed someone? Do you understand what a fool you are and how you put the rest of your life at risk? About all you can do at this point is try to make an arrangement to pay on a monthly basis to satisfy the cost. The other party has the right to ask the court to garnish your wages if you are working. Being that this guy is being an *** and a jerk, (he has absolutely no right to harass you), you should deal directly with his insurance company and leave him totally out of the picture, and you should tell him exactly that.

How can you expect him to not be mad? YOU are driving ILLEGALLY, damaged his car and can’t pay for the damage? It doesn’t matter that YOU think it’s small, the point IS WE have to have insurance and we don’t drive without it. YOU think it’s OK to ignore the laws and do whatever you want, damage other people’s stuff and they should just be NICE about it? I don’t think so!! What should happen is that YOU go to JAIL for driving illegally! THat’s what SHOULD happen! What would you be doing if you’d have hurt him and had hospital bills piling up? YOU aren’t any better than the rest of us, if you can’t afford insurance, THEN YOU CAN AFFORD TO DRIVE YOU LOW LIFE IDIOT!!!

When you take the risks, you have to be willing to pay the consequences in life. In this case, you risked driving without insurance. The other party is an innocent victim of your actions and you need to grant his request. Offer to make payments on the amount you owe him. Do not contact his insurance company; you will gain nothing from dealing with it and possibly lose even more.
You are lucky that you didn’t get a citation and you are especially lucky that the other driver isn’t claiming an injury!
After you have paid him off, go buy some car insurance. Companies will take installment payments.

He maybe playing you since you don’t have insurance. What I would do is request to see his quote and compare it to your quote and see what the difference is. You can also insist to take his car to another collision shop and get a 3rd estimate.
If you own a car, it is illegal to not carry auto insurance. You got lucky in this accident but what if you hit someone and the driver or anyone else in the car got seriously injured or died? You’d be paying for the rest of your life and all your future wages would be going towards that family. Think about what you’re risking.
