My 20 year old daughter decided to buy a car for her boy friend. The car and insurance is in her name with my address. She is still listed on my car insurance policy. What should I do ? She has made a big mistake. Can I just have her cancell her policy and transfer the car to him and keep her on my policy. We do not want to be responsible for her boy friend in any way. I feel she has put me a risk using our address.

Normally any licensed driver may operate the vehicle with the owner’s permission.
There are some exceptions to this. If the driver lives in the owner’s household they must be listed on the policy as an authorized operator. Additionally some policies restrict operation to non-listed drivers to over 21 or over 25. That’s pretty common in the UK but rare in the US.

I think the insurance company thinks the car is still in my mohters name. She said it doesn’t matter, I was listed as a driver on plan anyway. Is this legal? Not sure what to think?

My wife and I were involved in an auto accident recently. We were hit from behind while waiting at a traffic light (red).
They other diver aggreed that it was his fault. Both of us have auto insurance from same company. His policy is covering damage to my car. My insurance company (which is same as his) says I get health coverage from my policy and not his policy.
Since it is from my policy, they say, I am subjected to deductibles and co-pay.
My question is
a) Is it true that irrespective of Continue reading..

Either: Change companies to one that has a lower rate (don’t do this too often because if you have another accident without any hsistory with the new company, they may drop you) or increase your deductible to decrease your rate.

We just bought a new car. It’s my dads car, I drive it about 15% of the time when he is not using it and I want to go out. I am 18. Obviously I will be rated much higher than he is. Would I be the one rated on the car even though I only drive it 15% of the time or will be be the one being rated on the car? There are no other cars in the household.
